В статье дан анализ сервисной деятельности через призму общества потребления, а также определено значение сервиса в современном обществе.

SERVICE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE THEORY OF THE CONSUMER SOCIETY

Abstract

The article presents the analysis of service activity through the prism of the society of consumption, as well as the value of the service in the modern society.

A characteristic feature of modern social community is a consumer society, which plays an important role not only as the consumption of material goods, and many services without objective forms, but still having different integrated characteristics.

Service effects on the content of a person's life, making their lives richer and extends the range of their needs, promotes the development of creative potential of a personality. The sphere of well-organized service allows a person to have time for leisure, family life, self-realization, as inner desire to share his free time with maximum efficiency. With the development of new economic sectors of service there appeared a need in competent specialists. Development of the service also provides a new economic opportunity to get quite a significant income from investments of its customers.

The main task of the service is to meet the business personal needs and wants of customers of any class and social status. But the formation can also effect on the development of the service. So the perspectives of service development will be directed to evaluating the importance of human needs and the person’s desire will be taken into consideration. Formation needs are often connected with creation of new technologies, such as telephone, television, car, computer, etc.

As writes Lukasheva E.V., the consumption society was analyzed by J. Baudrillardm: « consumption society can be characterized by a mass consumption of material goods and the formation of the system of values. It is a society based on revaluation of moral norms, ideals and principles of life… Almost everything becomes a commodity. The modern man is formed special psychology – the psychology of the consumer» [1. 5].

We can conclude that the needs of the service area are always associated with a specific way of life. And this is not just a social status and level of development of the country, where people live. These are geographical, settler, demographic factors, too. The scope of service should be aimed to the specific conditions of life, that to be in demand and help people make their lives more comfortable.

The range of service can respond to a wide range of human needs, from basic needs to the highest. Developing within the national economy is an important social function. The main objective of service is to satisfy of different needs of the people, and the various individual needs. Participating in the implementation of social needs, service strengthens social security, makes a significant contribution to the development of modern production teams, and helps to improve the quality of life of the population. Meet the individual needs, the service allows you to organize the work, life and leisure of each person, improving social, family standards and friendship, helping to develop and implement of peoples’ abilities. Besides, a range of services is a good basis for the development of various kinds of business, for ensuring employment.

In the end, it should be said that the consumer society has been changed the life of humanity. Its formation and prosperity promoted with technical progress. The person perceiving social action of the people around should operate social practice of consumption. The structure of the consumer society is dominated. It allows modern scientists to assess the impact of the social practices of consumption under the influence of the cultural processes.
